My Picks for Best Cruise Ship Sunglasses

I almost need a suitcase to hold my sunglasses when I travel. I have a pair for every occasion; beach, driving, water, repeated transition from indoors to out, early morning, midday, sundown, and rainy weather. I have looked high and low for good quality glasses that will protect my eyes from the sun’s harsh glare.

I have some disposable sunglasses that I wear when I’m in the pool at home. They provide very minimal protection and with lenses that are manufactured so inexpensively, I sometimes wonder if they’re doing more damage than benefit. I have invested in designer glasses by Prada, Gucci and Tom Ford. I have a small collection of Ray Bans; various Wayfarer types, aviators and hybrids. I even have some glasses people may consider to be women’s styles. I really don’t care. I view sunglasses as a fashion accessory, a small expression of style. You don’t always need to blend in. Aesthetics aside… like many things, with sunglasses – you get what you pay for.

I understand most glasses are produced at one big Bausch & Lomb factory. At this factory, they design unique properties for each brand they represent. I believe it is from their efforts that sunglasses have become so specialized. Where you could once pick up a pair of Ray Bans for $5 from a drug store countertop, you now order them customized online, for hundreds of dollars.

Among my acquisitions is one pair of sunglasses that stands out, head and shoulders, above the rest. They are my World Cup Polarized Wrap Sunglasses from Maui Jim®. I view them as solid, non-gimmicky, no-nonsense eye protection. There are two features that work together to elevate them. They are polarized, which means as I’m walking on the deck of the ship, the sun’s harsh glare from the water’s surface does not give me a headache. The second feature is the strong, sleek wrap-around design, which blocks out peripheral glare and indirect  sunlight.

These Maui Jim® sunglasses are not manufactured by Bausch & Lomb. They are American made – created in Hawaii. I love them because, as I mentioned, they wrap around, which means they block out indirect sunlight. Everything is seen crystal clear and with cool crisp colors that protect your eyes. They feature patented PolarizedPlus2® lenses. These comfortable, waterproof sunglasses eliminate glare from the surface of the water and provide broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays. Time and time again, I reach for them; they are my go-to sunglasses choice. I receive many compliments on them, and there is absolutely no doubt that I will be a repeat buyer.
