Today’s cruise ships offer one of my very favorite things, immersion. How about taking an excursion to a private home for a tour, dinner, cooking lessons, or an informative talk? How about having a special guest chef board the ship for teaching or tasting? It is now commonplace to arrange for these types of experiences on premium, new premium, upper premium, and luxury cruise ships.
Saying the words “cruise ship food” can immediately bring to mind “the all-you-can eat buffet”. Images of food binging and weight gain almost always come to mind when friends hear you are planning a cruise adventure. Yes, one can still indulge to their hearts desire but there are other offerings for the more sophisticated palates as well. There are spectacular wine pairings and themed meals served with all the elegance and refinement of the fanciest of clubs and restaurants. You have choices. Except for special cases it’s all included in one fare.
The fellow travelers you meet on a cruise ship may very well end up friends for life. Additionally, you just may find yourself planning a future cruise together with people you’ve only just met! It happens.
Safety is a major concern on cruise ships. Living in a pandemic weary world cruise ship companies are overly cautious when it comes to health and safety issues. Consider the millions of people that travel with cruises each year. I don’t believe that cruise companies would gamble with the lives of it’s guests for a profit. These companies depend upon their excellent reputations to attract new business each year. They have a strong desire to see each passenger become a lifelong customer. I recently took a cruise (late summer of 2021) and I can say that I’ve never felt safer on a ship.
